Coastal Cave

On a chance encounter during an excursion to the beach with my family and some dear field recording friends, we came across a hidden cave. I decided to take the opportunity to play within the glorious space. My husband and daughter were outside near the recorder placed to capture the sea and the clarinet emanating deep within the cave. We hear them laughing at fisherman on the rocks getting their feet wet from the surging waves of the rising tide and the rustling of a child patiently waiting. My recordist friends were laying throughout the cave tunnel capturing this snapshot of a special moment in time. I asked my son to join me in the cave. We sat back to back amidst stalagmites with stalactites dripping a natural rhythm. The sound washed over us as we were enveloped by incredible energy in the complete darkness.
